Journal Statistics

Annual Report from Journal Representative, Najib Haboubi
I am delighted to report that the journal has again gained strength since my last report, and moved forward in the following ways:
Membership Subscriber Analysis
| 2009 | 2010 | |
|---|---|---|
| ACPGBI subscribers | 761 | 798 |
| ESCP subscribers | 196 | 230 |
| Spanish Society of Coloproctologists | 248 | 299 |
The journal has improved its online visitor activity levels through search engine optimisation, using for example Google, and approximately 60% of all traffic to the Wiley Online Library can now be attributed to this optimisation.
There are now more than 2,000 Twitter followers and improved Pubmed citation is building up. There were over 60,000 Pubmed LinkOuts in 2010 resulting in over 36,000 full text downloads. The total of articles downloaded in 2010 was 148,002; most of the articles received by the journal are from Europe.
The impact factor moved from 2.410 to 2.728. This constitutes an increase of 13% on last year and on our first Impact Factor for 2008 of 2.293, the overall increase in two years has been 19%.
Editorial turnaround times: submission to first decision is 27 days, submission to final decision is 42 days and submission to acceptance is 70 days.
Profit levels are almost that of last year’s.
As many of you will already know Colorectal Disease received its Impact Factor for 2010 in June. This is 2.728, an increase of 13% from last year’s figure of 2.410
Our strategy is two-fold; first to increase the quality of articles and secondly to offer authors as short an interval from submission to publication as possible.
Quality is heavily dependent on the quality of the reviews of articles and we are most grateful to our reviewers for the time and trouble they put into maintaining such a high standard.
With regard to the interval to publication the current statistics are as follows:
- Submission to first editorial decision: 27 calendar days
- Submission to acceptance: 10 weeks
- Technical editing to online, citable article (Accepted Article): 1 week
- Technical editing to definitive Online Only publication: 2-3 months
- Technical editing to definitive paper publication: 13 months
In response to the increasing submission rate, two new editors, Alexander Engel and Ian Lindsey, have been appointed and there is fund from the ESCP and the ACPGBI to appoint two junior editors to be mentored by peer - Wille Jergenson and Najib Haboubi.
