Developed from a published framework
This interactive e-learning module introduces a structured approach to sacral neuromodulation based on a published procedural framework. Developed with international faculty, the programme provides a step-by-step pathway designed to support both trainees and experienced surgeons.
Why this module was developed
Sacral neuromodulation is an established therapy for functional pelvic floor disorders. However, variability in procedural technique can influence outcomes.
This module has been developed to support a structured and reproducible approach to the procedure, translating a published framework into an interactive learning pathway.
Structured procedural training
The programme guides participants through eight sequential phases of the procedure, including:
- Patient positioning and preparation
- X-ray and patient marking
- Foramen needle placement
- Introducer placement
- Tined lead placement
- Removal of the introducer
- Tunnelling, IPG pocket and percutaneous extension lead
- Programming
Each phase builds progressively to support a clear understanding of the procedure.

Interactive elements, exercises and short assessments reinforce key procedural principles throughout the training pathway.
