Dr. Patricia Sylla is a colorectal surgeon and Professor of Surgery at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. She currently serves as interim System Chief of the Colorectal Surgery Division at the Mount Sinai Health System. She is a world-renowned innovator and one of the first surgeons on Earth to perform a transanal total mesorectal excision for rectal cancer. Dr. Sylla, who is also the president elect of SAGES, shares her experience with ESCP audience on surgical research and training, as a leading female academic surgeon.
