The European Society of Coloproctology’s 8th Regional Masterclass is scheduled to take place in Cardiff, Wales on 1 November 2019.

ESCP is running the masterclass, entitled 'Tomorrow's World' in conjunction with the Welsh Surgical Society Autumn Meeting on 1 November at the Cardiff Hilton Hotel between 8:45am and 5:30pm.

The scientific programme, which is split into four sessions, will cover several topics concerning the future of coloproctology focus on the importance of new technologies. These include:

  • Genomics and its influence on colorectal surgery
  • Transanal Total Mesorectal Excision (TATME): the time has come or time over?
  • The 21st century pouch
  • Pressurised IntraPeritoneal Aerosolised Chemotherapy (PIPAC): the potential for new disease treatments
  • The robot: every home should have one

A variety of renowned experts are leading the sessions including keynote speakers Nadine Hachach-Haram and Shafi Ahmed.

Nadine Hachach-Haram is well-known for founding Proximie, an award-winning software platform which allows remote interaction between healthcare professionals across a wide variety of clinical and surgical applications.

Shafi Ahmed is a multi-award winning surgeon and entrepreneur. He is currently serving as an elected member of council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England where he is the Director of the International Surgical Training Programme.

The masterclass also features three Q&A sessions as well as a debate between distinguished colorectal surgeons, Justin Davies and Tim Rockall.
