ESCP’s focus throughout December centred around sharing information and insights on the topic of Crohn’s disease across our social networks.
ESCP’s Twitter page used the hashtag #ESCPCrohnsMonth to encourage our colorectal community to engage in discussions about the disease, as well as sharing ideas, experiences and questions surrounding the topic.
This month’s focus was co-ordinated by Young ESCP member Kapil Sahnan and consultant colorectal surgeon, Janindra Warusavitarne. Other colorectal healthcare specialists such as Peter Christensen and Richard Brady also helped to spread the message of the month’s focus by getting involved in the twitter hashtag #ESCPCrohnsMonth.
First up for #ESCPCrohnsMonth, was Professor Ailsa Hart and Samuel Adegbola discussing PROMs in Crohn’s anal fistula.
Other video contributions were shared by consultant colorectal surgeon, Phil Tozer discussing the Admire Studies stem cell treatment of Crohn’s Disease. ESCP’s President, William Bemelman also shared a video surrounding Mesenteric Sparing vs Radical Mesenterectomy in Ileocolic Resection for Terminal Ileitis in Crohn’s Disease with a festive twist.

Additionally, we used the monthly focus as an opportunity to share studies by @ColorectalDis regarding whether preoperative enteral nutrition reduces the incidence of surgical complications in patients with Crohn’s.
ESCPs December Paper of the Month also tied into ESCP’s December focus by exploring the results of the LIR!C Trial comparing treatments for ileocecal Crohn’s disease.
