Ultrasound today increasingly used in clinical practice. Novel applications, including three-dimensional endoanal, endorectal, endovaginal, and dynamic transperineal ultrasound can help the clinician with a superior depiction of the pelvic anatomy and unique dynamic information. The new 3D technology is on the front line in the diagnostic and therapeutic work-up of patients suffering from pelvic floor dysfunction (faecal and urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, obstructed defecation) and for colorectal patients with benign (anorectal sepsis) or malignant (anorectal tumours) pathologies.
