ESCP has been collaborating with JSCP on a reciprocal basis since 2008 and it is with pleasure that we will welcome a JSCP fellow to our Annual Meeting every year. In return, ESCP again had the pleasure in announcing this excellent opportunity for an ESCP member to be awarded a JSCP fellowship, kindly initiated and organised by the International Committee of the Japan Society of Coloproctology. Details The fellowship will be in conjunction with the 80th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Coloproctology. Location: Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba, Tokyo, Japan Date: 14-15 November 2025 Duration of fellowship: 1-2 weeks (TBC) Eligibility criteria Shigeki Yamaguchi M.D. has extended an invitation for applications for this fellowship to Japan from those who fulfil the following criteria: Current, fully paid member of ESCP (i.e. full, trainee etc.) for a minimum of 12 months Are senior coloproctology trainees or consultants within 5 years of appointment Have a manifested interest in coloproctology Applications Applications will open in due course. The grant available for this fellowship from the JSCP will be sufficient to cover a return economy air fare, registration for the JSCP Meeting, and accommodation for visits to centres before/after the meeting. Applications for 2025 are now CLOSED. The aim of the fellowships is to assist European surgeons, currently training in coloproctology, to undertake a visit to a centre out with their home country in Europe.  ESCP has announced the following fellowship opportunity for the 2025 period: 2 x three-month fellowship on Functional Disorders These fellowships will be supported by a €8000 grant from Medtronic.  Eligibility criteria Successful applicants will be people who demonstrate potential for achieving a leadership position in colon and rectal surgery or proctology, and fulfil the following criteria: Be a fully paid member of ESCP (i.e. full, affiliate etc.) for a minimum of 12 months Have training in general surgery for a minimum of 5 years Are senior trainees or consultants at an early stage of their career Have a manifested interest in coloproctology (evidenced by practice, teaching, research or publications) Can clearly define the benefit to be gained from this experience The fellow must be a surgeon with license to practice colorectal surgery in the host centre – ESCP will provide guidance in securing the licence. But it is the responsibility of candidates to secure licensing and work permission requirements. It is helpful if the fellow speaks the native language of the host hospital (fluent English might be accepted by most of the host centres). Applications for 2024-2025 are now closed. The European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) Colorectal Robotic Surgery Fellowship has the aim of providing training in robotic colorectal surgery to colorectal surgeons with previous experience either in open or laparoscopic approach. At the end of this fellowship the fellow should be able to perform standard procedures in robotic colorectal surgery for benign or malignant disease such as rectopexy, sigmoidectomy, right colectomy with/without intracorporeal anastomosis or low anterior resection. Different aspects of the theoretical background of robotic surgery, selection criteria for the patient, diagnostic studies prior to the surgical procedure or postoperative follow-up are also part of this training. ESCP has announced the following fellowship opportunities for the 2024-2025 period: 6 x six-month fellowships on Colorectal Robotic Surgery These fellowships are supported by a €16,000 grant from Intuitive. Course content This course will show the attendees the classic treatment modalities for cryptoglandular fistulas and offer an opportunity to gain hands-on experience on the wonderful 'Isbert model', but also a look into the new treatment modalities that are currently being offered. Experts in the field will present their data on different modalities (laser, VAAFT, OTSC, permacol) but also, a critical appraisal of current evidence will be offered as well as a look into the way new techniques can be implemented in current practice.
