Each year ESCP offers its members who are currently training in coloproctology centres the opportunity to visit clinical, teaching and research coloproctology centres of excellence in a different country in Europe.

Scientific validation of surgical strategies is necessary to ensure their safety and benefits. It makes responsible evolution of clinical practice possible. Several institutions all over the world are working joining efforts to collect enough data to achieve strong conclusions. On March 30th at 10:30am (UTC+01) Dion Morton from Queen Elizabeth Hospital of Birmingham (UK) will be providing an innovative format to broadcast two surgical procedures and their scientific basis.

I was delighted and honored to be chosen as the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) travelling fellow to Japan in November 2015. Dr Eiji Shinto (National Defense Medical College) welcomed me on my arrival; he had been the Japanese Society of Coloproctology (JSCP) travelling fellow to the ESCP meeting in 2014. Dr Shinto had kindly arranged all aspects of my trip, including which units I would visit.

It was my great honor to have been selected as the JSCP/ESCP travelling fellowship to Dublin in 2015. My experience to attend ESCP meeting and to visit St James’s hospital of Leeds University, Örebro University and Karolinska Institute were both exciting and inspiring.
