Trustees are elected by the Council and make up ESCP’s Board of Directors.
They are responsible for ensuring that ESCP is managed by the Executive and Council in a sound legal and financial way in accordance with the Constitution and Rules of the Society and to ensure that ESCP’s charitable objectives are preserved.
There are up to nine trustees representing the three European regions (western, central, eastern). They serve for three years and may stand for re-election.
The chair of the Board of Trustees reports matters arising from Trustee board meetings to the Council.

ESCP is invited by UEG (United European Gastroenterology) to appoint representatives that attend various committees. These are attended by:

Nominations for New National Representatives
Each September the term of office for a number of ESCP National Representatives draws to an end. The nomination of new National Representatives is made by Full ESCP members in each country and is subject to ratification at the AGM.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee has responsibility for the day-to-day running of ESCP and convenes regularly throughout the year, either face to face or by telephone conference.
The President is elected annually, and selected on a rotational basis from each of ESCP’s three geographic regions (eastern, central and western). The Executive Committee nominates a president for ratification and election at the Annual General Meeting.
The Secretary, Treasurer and Chairman of the Scientific Programme Committee each hold office for three years, and are nominated for election by the Executive Committee, approved by Council and formally appointed at the AGM. During their last year of office, they are shadowed by the incoming officer for one year to ensure a smooth handover.
