ESCP 2025 Paris

Important Notice: General Strike in Paris – Wednesday, 10 September

Delegates attending the ESCP Congress in Paris are advised that a general strike is planned for Wednesday, 10 September. Such events may impact public transport and other services across the city.

As of today, it is difficult to quantify the scale of the “Let’s Block Everything” movement.

Various forms of mobilisation are expected, particularly among transport workers.

Public transport: MAJOR DISRUPTIONS EXPECTED

  • On September 10, the following situation is expected:
    • Near-normal service on metro, tram, and bus networks.
    • However, train lines K, R, H, J, L, N, and U will be heavily disrupted.
    • RER lines B, C, D, and E will face significant operating difficulties.
      • Train schedules will be made available the evening before the strike on the SNCF and RATP websites.

Air travel: RISK OF DELAYS AND CANCELLATIONS

  • The SUD-Aérien union has called for a strike and for blockades at airports, with a gathering planned at Roissy–Charles de Gaulle. The CGT Air France union has also called on all airline staff to join the mobilisation.

Road traffic: RISK OF BLOCKADES ON PARISIAN ROUTES

  • Blockades of the Paris ring road are planned from 7:00 a.m. on September 10, particularly at Porte de Bagnolet.

Protests: CALLS FOR DIVERSE FORMS OF MOBILIZATION

  • The main gatherings and demonstrations identified so far include:
    • Place du Panthéon from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (5th arrondissement)
    • The Élysée Palace (8th arrondissement) from 10:00 a.m., with a possible relocation to Place de la Nation (11th and 12th arrondissements) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
    • Place des Fêtes (19th arrondissement)
    • Place du Châtelet (1st and 4th arrondissements)
    • Place de la République (3rd, 10th, and 11th arrondissements)
    • Esplanade Vidal-Naquet (13th arrondissement)
    • Gare du Nord (10th arrondissement)
  • Since the movement is loosely organised, other undeclared actions may occur, notably around train stations, airports, industrial sites, schools/universities, prefectures, and commercial areas.

80,000 police officers and gendarmes will be deployed starting Tuesday evening, September 9, to prevent any disturbances. Perimeter bans and protest bans outside of any legal framework have been issued, particularly around institutional sites.

For your information, the Congress venue, Palais des Congrès, is served by Metro Line 1, which is automated (driverless) and is usually not affected by strikes.

We also recommend considering alternative transport options such as private transfers or taxis, particularly for your arrival day, should disruptions occur.

Please rest assured that we are closely monitoring the situation. While the strike is organised at the national level and is beyond our control.
