Courses and Workshops

The Education Committee and European School of Coloproctology offer education and training in coloproctology for surgeons at different stages of their professional careers, and aim to promote current knowledge and evidence-based practice.
European School of Coloproctology
ESCP's European School of Coloproctology (ESC) offer a year-round platform for educational opportunities. Robotics training is run by ColoRobotica, ESC's Colorectal Robotic Surgery Working Group.
ColoRobotica Training Pathway
This programme offers a structured, evidence-based approach to learning, supported by expert robotic colorectal surgeons with keen interests in education, enhanced learning, and assessment.
Minimal Invasive CME Programme
This training initiative promotes minimal invasive complete mesocolic excision for colon cancer.
It includes a two day course for teams of two surgeons focussing on right-sided colon resections, and proctorship.
Kock Pouch Workshop
This IPAA and Continent Ileostomy workshop promotes theoretical background knowledge and practical experience on the four variants of a continent ileostomy.
This initiative is a partnership with the European Hereditary Tumour Group.
Conference training opportunities
The Education Committee also offers a wide range of opportunities at ESCP's Annual Conference.
Anal Fistula and Haemorrhoids
Theoretical and practical course on preoperative work-up and treatment of anal fistula and haemorrhoidal disease.
How to manage OASIS
This course aims to discuss all critical steps of diagnosis and repair of obstetric anal sphincters injuries (OASIS) by a well-experienced faculty.
Radiology
Experts in the field of radiology and coloproctology teach proper interpretation of images, as well as the clinical relevance of these findings.
Ultrasound
Basic concepts and techniques in clinical practice, including the endosonographic appearance of common conditions of the anorectal region and pelvic floor.
Watch and Wait
This course walks you through the entire patient journey - from selection criteria and imaging strategies, to surveillance, local regrowth, and salvage surgery.
ESBQ Academy
ESCP with the Division of Coloproctology of the UEMS are offering a preparation workshop for the EBSQ examination in coloproctology.
Other courses
The committee also organises courses at other times of the year.
Y-ESCP Basic Robotic Skills Course
This workshop represents an ideal starting point for surgeons aspiring to integrate robotic techniques into their colorectal practice in a safe, structured, and mentored setting.
Applications close on 30 April 2026
Virtual Operating Room
These virtual visits to an operating room offered delegates to observe, interact, learn and discuss technical steps in surgery, peri-operative care, decision making and ways of improving outcomes.
Two topics were covered: anal fistula and trans-perineal surgeries for pelvic floor disorders.
TAMIS Course
TAMIS local excision for complex benign lesions and early rectal cancer has become an established treatment approach.
This course is an essential first step on the learning curve before clinical implementation.
