The management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) has become increasingly complex, requiring a deep understanding of both medical and surgical strategies to deliver optimal care. Recognising this growing need, the Argentine Group for the Study of Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis (GADECCU) has developed the 1st comprehensive online course focused on the integrated medical-surgical treatment of IBD, specifically tailored for surgeons in Latin America and beyond.
Running from July to December in a semester-based format, the course offers weekly virtual classes, compulsory live case-based discussions, and rigorous assessment through midterm and final exams. With lectures delivered by over 25 renowned international experts from Europe, North and South America, this program addresses the entire IBD spectrum - from diagnosis and medical management to complex surgical interventions, including abdominal and perianal Crohn’s disease, acute severe ulcerative colitis, and restorative proctocolectomy with ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA).
This course represents a unique educational milestone for the Latin American surgical community, aiming to close the knowledge gap and promote evidence-based, multidisciplinary IBD care in the region. It is officially endorsed by GETECCU (Spanish Working Group on Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis) and the European Crohn's and Colitis Organization (ECCO), and it is ESCP-listed. The course will offer participants not only academic training but also the opportunity to connect with global leaders in the field.
Whether you are a surgical resident, specialist, or allied healthcare professional involved in IBD, this course provides a structured, high-quality, and accessible educational platform to enhance your clinical practice and improve patient outcomes.
The course will run online from July to December 2025.
