Receiving the complimentary registration to attend the ESCP 2025 Tripartite Colorectal Conference was a transformative experience and a significant milestone in my journey as a final-year medical student. It not only broadened my academic and clinical horizons but also inspired me to envision my role in the future of surgery.

The scientific sessions and workshops exposed me to cutting-edge innovations, evolving surgical standards, and real-world case discussions. Listening to experts present on complex colorectal conditions, minimally invasive techniques, and advancements in cancer management greatly enhanced my understanding of the specialty. These sessions provided clarity on how evidence-based practice is translated into patient care, bridging the gap between classroom learning and practical application.

Equally valuable was the opportunity for professional networking. I engaged with consultants, trainees, and researchers from diverse regions and backgrounds. These conversations opened my eyes to global perspectives on patient care, research directions, and training opportunities. The interactions not only offered mentorship but also inspired me to consider pathways in surgical training and academic collaboration beyond my local environment. It was particularly encouraging to meet mentors who were generous with their advice, highlighting the importance of resilience, continuous learning, and collaboration in building a surgical career.

Furthermore, complimentary registration helped overcome a major financial barrier. As a student, the costs of attending an international conference can be daunting. By granting me access, the ESCP made it possible for me to participate fully, focus on learning, and immerse myself in every aspect of the program without financial stress. This inclusivity fostered a sense of belonging in the global surgical community and affirmed my aspirations to contribute to it.

In summary, complimentary registration has had a profound and lasting impact on my medical career. It deepened my knowledge, broadened my network, and strengthened my commitment to surgical excellence. Most importantly, it gave me the confidence to see myself as an active participant in the international surgical community, motivating me to pursue both clinical and academic growth with renewed determination.

Kseniya Ponceliz Khristenko

Attending the Tripartite Colorectal Meeting by ESCP in Paris, has been an extraordinary experience that I will always treasure. Being part of such a prestigious international meeting was not only academically enriching but also personally inspiring. Even though many of the talks were highly specific and advanced, I found them fascinating and incredibly valuable for my understanding of colorectal surgery.

They gave me insight into the latest developments in the field and reminded me of the importance of continuous learning in medicine.
Beyond the scientific content, one of the aspects I appreciated most was the opportunity to meet so many professionals from different countries, each with their own experiences and perspectives. I am certain that these encounters will be meaningful as I continue my training and career development.

At this stage, while preparing for the MIR exam, this opportunity has been especially motivating. It has given me renewed energy and has reaffirmed my dream of becoming a surgeon.

This dream has a very personal origin: years ago, when I had surgery myself, I developed a truly exceptional relationship with my surgeon. He knew me better than my own father, and the admiration and trust that grew from that experience inspired me to follow his example and pursue a career in surgery.

Later, during my final degree project in the Colorectal Surgery Department at La Paz University Hospital, I was fortunate to be guided by dedicated supervisors who included me as a true member of the team. Their support and the way they welcomed me into the project made the work not only more rewarding but also more personal and enjoyable. This experience was essential in strengthening my interest in research and in motivating me to continue striving for excellence in my career.

For all these reasons, I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to attend the ESCP Congress. It has been a decisive step in my journey as a young doctor, combining academic learning, professional networking, and personal growth.

Most importantly, it has reinforced my conviction to pursue my dream with passion and dedication: to become a surgeon who can inspire others, just as I was once inspired.

Attending this conference, among leading colorectal surgeons from around the world, was an invaluable experience that without your help would have been difficult to gain.

Being able to participate was, with all certainty, a privilege that will benefit my medical career and my future steps as a doctor.

To begin with, the conference was a chance for me to gain exposure to the specialty of general surgery, specifically colorectal surgery. Becoming acquainted with this field was truly beneficial in me deciding the next step in my path to become a surgeon, considering it is the field I am mostly interested in.

Moreover, this opportunity allowed me to expand my knowledge of the latest developments in colorectal surgery, while also comparing them to classic procedures, which was a very helpful way for me to develop my critical thinking, evaluate the advantages of each surgical method and be able to recognize that, in surgery, there is rarely an ‘absolute’ right choice.

Furthermore, getting to listen to presentations by doctors from different countries and hospitals really broadened my perspective, exposed me to the similarities and differences in surgical practice from hospital to hospital and allowed me to develop a more complete approach beyond national limitations.
On a more social level, the diverse mix of participants of different ages and backgrounds provided an excellent opportunity for me to network and exchange ideas, while also receiving advice and guidance for my future steps.

Last but not least, participating in the Tripartite Colorectal Meeting was an opportunity to meet the ESCP community and become a member of the YESCP, thus continuing to gain knowledge and useful tools to prepare me for my medical career.

In conclusion, attending the Tripartite Colorectal Meeting 2025 was a priceless experience and an opportunity to explore in depth the field I am most interested in. I would like to thank you again for the complimentary registration; I am certain it was one of the most beneficial experiences for my medical career.
