Many congratulations to our prizewinners from ESCP Berlin! Laurent Abramowitz (France) won the BJS Society Prize for the Best of the Six Best Papers, Simon Ladefoged Rasmussen (Denmark) won the Best Welcome Poster award, Masaaki Ito (Japan) won the Best Surgical Video award, and Aleksei Petrov (Russia) won the Best New Trial Award.

On the final day of the ESCP conference it was a packed programme with sessions covering everything from coloproctology around the globe to controversies in Crohns' disease. Delegates heard brilliant keynotes from Soren Laurberg on LARS and from Harry Sokol on faecal transplantation for UC. There was a lively symposium on management of T2 rectal cancer chaired by Simon Bach and Eric Rullier, and for the first time at an ESCP meeting we had a patient involvement session looking at how best to involve patients in colorectal research.

Day Two of ESCP’s annual congress in Berlin included a keynote lecture delivered by Jan Deprest, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Faculty of Medicine (KU Leuven), Belgium; a review of the six best free papers and Brendan Moran's keynote on malignant appendix.
